INRAE Transfert Environment
Metys Environmental Biotechnologies Department
INRAE Support Unit
The Laboratory of Environmental Biotechnology
The LBE is an INRAE research unit at the INRAE Occitanie-Montpellier center in Narbonne.
The LBE’s research focuses on the concept of environmental biorefinery, which consists in converting residues, waste, organic effluents and certain biomasses into products of interest (bioenergy, biomolecules, soil improvers and organic fertilizers) while minimizing their environmental and health impact.
The LBE relies on research excellence, a multidisciplinary approach and a wide range of topics, as well as on technology transfer and innovation. To achieve this, it relies on its Bio2E (Biotechnology and Environmental Biorefinery) platform.
The LBE boasts 4757 m² of floor space, including an 1882 m² experimental hall, and scientific and analytical equipment enabling it to set up and monitor experiments on different scales.
The METYS Service
INRAE Transfert Environment
In 2011, the LBE and INRAE Transfert joined forces to create the ITe Service, which develops and markets a range of services dedicated to the study of processes and channels for the agronomic or energetic treatment and recovery of all types of effluent, waste products or specific biomass.
Backed by the scientific and technological expertise of the LBE’s research teams, combined with the cutting-edge analytical and experimental equipment of the BIO2E platform, ITe’s offer integrates a complete range of services, from the analysis and characterization of organic matrices to industrial process expertise.
- Environmental analyses
- Physical, chemical and biochemical characterization
- Measurement of biodegradability and aerobic or anaerobic biological activity
- Technological feasibility and sizing studies
- Bioreactor testing, process coupling and physico-chemical treatments
- Expertise in industrial processes and advice to operators
At your service and attentive to your needs, Metys’ teams of technicians, engineers and PhDs, specialists in agronomy, biotechnology and the environment, will advise and support you at every stage of your project.
