INRAE Transfert’s Business Unit is getting a new name for its 12th birthday!
The INRAE Transfert Business Unit has existed since 2011, so it was time to give it a name! We chose Metys
The name Metys above all reflects our mission to develop and promote a range of services based on the combined expertise of various INRAE laboratories.
It also embodies our vision of mixing different cultures. INRAE’s culture, that of public research and that of our industrial and agricultural customers, economic players and operators in the field, who, through their interactions and synergies, shape and catalyse innovation.
Metys to support innovation, from the lab to the market
Metys as a symbol of our values and our business. An intellectual concept, mètis (from the ancient Greek μῆτις / mêtis) in fact refers to a set of attitudes and behaviours that combine sagacity, anticipation, adaptability, attentiveness and a sense of opportunity, with the skill of experience acquired through practice(1,2). It is the knowledge developed by the craftsman and the technician that determines “technical intelligence” or “knowledge through practice”, the raison d’être of Metys, whose mission is to accelerate the maturing of innovative technologies by putting them to the test in practice.
Metys fully expresses our mission, vision and values. It reflects the uniqueness of our positioning, at the interface between and in the service of research and industrial or agricultural players, to support innovation from the laboratory to the market and offer a range of services at the cutting edge of innovation.
